  • Gaines' Mill (Seven Days Campaign) - June 27th, 1862 (Wounded...Wm. Eachus, shot in breast – not serious)
  • Out Date/Rank: Eachus was not listed on the Regimental Muster Roll. One reason for this may be that he was wounded apparently in the upper torso of his body, he may have remained in the hospital for a longer time than expected until being discharged by order of Surgeon Certificate. It could be possible that this is where he was forgotten about, there is no more mention of him aside from what is listed on his index card at the Pennsylvania State Archives. Final rank: Private.

Research by Justin Sanders & August Marchetti

Private William Eachus, Company K, 4th Pennsylvania Reserves, not listed in Samuel P. Bates' "History of Pennsylvania Volunteers". In the Pennsylvania State Archives I found his index card, that states "Not Account for on Muster Out Rolls". In a letter written in regards to the Gaines' Mill Battle during the Seven Days Campaign, an unknown author gives a casualty report, it states:
"Wounded...Wm. Eachus, Upper Uwchlan, shot in breast – not serious;"1
Eachus's enlistment information was found in the Pennsylvania State Archives, proving that he was a member of the 4th Reserves. His name should be listed on every Company K, 4th Reserves Muster Roll as stating what is on the index card below, and also that he was wounded at the Battle of Gaines' Mill on June 27th, 1862.
